Friday Blues

It’s friday.
I got about 3 hours sleep last night (wow, lucky me.), before mom and dad took off for work at FIVE IN THE MORNING. I’ve been up since then.
Before she left, mom delegated the task of washing ALL the dishes.
All I wanted as a few extra hours sleep, and mom was SUPPOSED to stay home and do the dishes while I slept.
But no, she went with dad, and now I’ve got bloodshot eyes that burn when I blink, freezing feet, and cold, wet hands.
Life is great.

In knitting news, mom’s socks have been stalled for a week now. I finished the heelflap, and I turned it. But when I went to pick up the stitches, the stupid. thing. was being. a bitch.
So I said screw it, frogged it to the heel flap.
And put it away.

I’ll work on it this weekend some, I think.

I sitll need ot figure out EXACTLY what I’m knitting for Tyler, Hailey, and Arissa. Arissa is not that hard to figure out. I’m thinking a pillow. I have lots of yarn in her two fav. colors (Teal and Purple) and that Domiknitrix book has that cool star pillow..

Tyler is such a PAIN to make a handmade item for. We’re sending him a 360 guitar hero 2 controller (courtesy of my parents and their awesome job), but aside from that..
I’m thinking a pair of cable fingerless gloves. I found this one pattern that I liked, had the exact yarn and needles for..But it still didnt sing to me.

Crap.

Hailey is Tyler’s (My best friend!) girlfriend. Yeha I had a thing for him. So what do you give the girl he picked over you? Yeah, got no clue either.

Dishes wait for no man. Or woman.

Old FOs

Finished Objects. I have a load of them. Small things, like hats and scarves.

Being my first post, I figured I would post all my old FOs.

Super Bulky Cabled Hat

The Super Bulky Cabled Hat, which i have named “Fug.”

It was knit with (very very very old thift store bought for ten cents) big berella bulky by bernat. (say that five times fast) in the “Mink” colorway.

Yes, It is VERY warm, as well as being 100% acrylic.

KMay’s Eyelet Lace Elegance Hat

Still my favorite, even though the ribbing alon ght ebottom hgas tretched out so much that the first good breeze takes it off my head.

The hat wa sknit in Caron Simplysoft in Autumn Red.

Slytherin Scarf

I vaguely remember making this over a six month period, when I FIRST started knitting. I cast on about 80 sts (becuase when casting on, it looks the right length. I didnt know it would grow and shrink) and knit i think for 15 or 20 ridges of garter stitch at a time on each color. I used 3 skeins of Caron Simplysoft in Grey, and 3 skeins of Caron Simplysoft in Sage ( i think.) It wasnt long enough for my liking. I still love this scarf, but I do have to remake it. Garter stitch and all. I believe this was made in 2003-04. Yes, I still have the cloak.

A Sock.

Used fomr the “Learn to Knit Socks” pamphlet form the american school of needlework. This is the “Basic Sock” and my first one. There shall never be another, so dont expect to see a pair. I knitted this in Bernat Softee Baby. Yes folks, 100% Acrylic. Shut up. I didnt have the money, and it was stash yarn. HAHA STASHBUSTING!

Notice the knitting book below my heel that shows how to do the toe grafting.

Dobby Hat

I loved this hat when I made it, but now..eh. I knitted it in Bernay Softee Chunkee in Hot Blue and Electric Orange (Dont quote me on the names.). It was like WRESTLING since it was chunky yarn on size 8 needles, AND aparrantly my gramma taught me the BACKWARDS purl stitch (through the back loop) so that made it worse..

I also was impatient, so it came out shorter than I would have liked (Read as: I decreased TWICE as much in the same amount of time as I should have. I followed the Dec. Rows and ignored everything else.), so I look like a gnome when i wear itunless i fiddle with it. alot.

OTHER FOs:

Jayne Hat

I refuse to post a pic of this peice of crap. When I knit a new one, I’ll let you know.

Knitted in Caron Simplysoft (can you tell thats my favorite yarn?) in Lemonade,(something) Orange, and autumn Red, on size 8 needles in GARTER STITCH BECUASE THIS WAS MY SECOND PROJECT EVAR.

Yeah.

Feather & Fan Blanket

Based on a scarf pattern that I got out of a book, I bought chunky yarn and needles just for this (Bernat Softee Chunkee in Antique Rose, and size 13 needles). I basically knitted three scarves and stitched them together. It was smaller than I wanted, but it sufficed. I entered it in the county fair, and It won nadda. Zilch. Zero.

Tards.

I’ll get pics of this someday.

Yarn Vomit Scarf (Pattern to be posted soon!)

I bought a big bag of thrift store yarn, and I fell in love with this ugly olive-y green. I thought it was kicky and cute and would make an excellent..something.

After knitting the Fug (See above.), I decided to use the same cable pattern, just reduced, and make a scarf.

The name? The yarn I used took an hour and a half to detangle form it’s yarn vomit-ous state that i had bought it in. It was probably like red herat or something. There was roughly one an a half skeins of the stuff. Knit tightly on size 8 needles. I did it with twisted Purl stitches, becuase aparrantly my gramma was a moron.

Okay. There’s my FOs. I’ll post again some stuff about my current knitting.
