Money Money

So here’s what I did with my day.
Get up, brush teeth, take bath, get dressed.
Go Shopping.

I have (or rather, had) money. A car accident from this past June recently netted me five hundred bucks.
Of course, I owed dad 300 for the text message in 2006.
And I owed him another 100 for the hotel room that I forgot to cancel for connooga.
And I owed mom ten.

So All in all, I ended up with 90 bucks.
I put 30 on the side for SallySwag, and the rest was mine.
So I started out with 67 dollars this morning.

In All Seriousness

So, since I love the people at AntiCraft forums, and I’m there all the time, I have something to share with you, from one of the other members, but it involves a story. I implore everyone who reads this to help out. If you don’t feel comfortable sending to the woman who’s running this project, and you know me, then send it to me, and I’ll send it along.

On February 12th, a young boy, by the name of Lawrence “Larry” King, was shot and killed in his school, by another student.

The boy was shot becuase he was Gay.

Earlier that week, Lawrence had asked his shooter to be his valentine.

I’m going to say this here and now, becuase I truly believe it, and I’m asking for ya’lls help.

THIS CANNOT CONTINUE.

Lawrence was only 15 years old. To kill a child becuase he asked another boy to be his valentine is morally wrong.
As children (and I call him a child becuase he is not yet an adult), we are unaware of the social stigma that comes with being “gay.”. It’s just another way to be, to kids.

Being brought up in a society where to be different is to be feared is WRONG. We should embrace our differences and the differences of others. This has been said for years, and I’ve been saying it. Now, I don’t just believe it, I LIVE it.

This really struck home with me. I’m Bisexual, and Jewish. In this area that = hell. That could have easily been me. Or a friend of mine.

What a sad state of affairs this world is in if we must wear masks to prevent our own demise.

Lawrence was a Crocheter, and donated scarves to Scarves for Soldiers.

One of the members of the AntiCraft forums has started a blog, and she wishes to make a scrapghan (a sampler afghen) for Lawrence’s mother.
You can find the blog here:
http://lawrencekingmemorialgroup.blogspot.com/

Please please please visit it and help her out. There is nothing can be done for Lawrence, but we can make a small amount of difference in the life of his family, in his absense.

Also, I ask personally that you donate a scarf to scarves for soldiers. If you can only garter stitch (knit every round), then that’s fine.

The world has lost a fine young man, who might have grown up to change the world. We will never know due to the ignorance of people.

Lawrence “Larry” King

This NEVER should have happened.

Obsessions!

I have an obsession with handwarmers.

Not just handwarmers, but fingerless gloves, and armwarmers.

Wearing handwarmers, fingerless gloves, armwarmers, exceptionally large gloves, slave bracelets..

It makes me happy.

Not just happy..

Excited.

So it’s no surprise that, in the past 2 months, I have knitted 4 pair of these frakkin’ things.

It started with Purple Monkey Dishwasher. Those have since been sent to Lea.

Then,. It went to my Jayne handwarmers.

Yes, knitted from the same yarn as my now frogged/thrown away/decided to just a knit a new one the right way jayne hat.

Then, I started swapping them.

So it went to a pair of purple and teal ones, sent out to a woman in england yesterday (Chunky on size 8s. The horror!)

And now, the super uber cheater ones (1 strand chunky, 1 strand worsted on size 13s) that I knit as I write.

What is my fascination?

I like having my fingers free to knit. I like the badass stigma of fingerless gloves and mitts. I like the fact that I can play RockBand in them. I like that they are easy to knit, and that they go with EVERYTHING.

I like that you can use whatever needles and yarn you want for the most basic ones, because they are swatches with seams.

I just…like em..okay? Videogames are full of em, and every time I see a pair, it’s like porn for me.

So there’s my ramble.

I have something serious, so I’m gonna post it separate.
