In All Seriousness

So, since I love the people at AntiCraft forums, and I’m there all the time, I have something to share with you, from one of the other members, but it involves a story. I implore everyone who reads this to help out. If you don’t feel comfortable sending to the woman who’s running this project, and you know me, then send it to me, and I’ll send it along.

On February 12th, a young boy, by the name of Lawrence “Larry” King, was shot and killed in his school, by another student.

The boy was shot becuase he was Gay.

Earlier that week, Lawrence had asked his shooter to be his valentine.

I’m going to say this here and now, becuase I truly believe it, and I’m asking for ya’lls help.

THIS CANNOT CONTINUE.

Lawrence was only 15 years old. To kill a child becuase he asked another boy to be his valentine is morally wrong.
As children (and I call him a child becuase he is not yet an adult), we are unaware of the social stigma that comes with being “gay.”. It’s just another way to be, to kids.

Being brought up in a society where to be different is to be feared is WRONG. We should embrace our differences and the differences of others. This has been said for years, and I’ve been saying it. Now, I don’t just believe it, I LIVE it.

This really struck home with me. I’m Bisexual, and Jewish. In this area that = hell. That could have easily been me. Or a friend of mine.

What a sad state of affairs this world is in if we must wear masks to prevent our own demise.

Lawrence was a Crocheter, and donated scarves to Scarves for Soldiers.

One of the members of the AntiCraft forums has started a blog, and she wishes to make a scrapghan (a sampler afghen) for Lawrence’s mother.
You can find the blog here:
http://lawrencekingmemorialgroup.blogspot.com/

Please please please visit it and help her out. There is nothing can be done for Lawrence, but we can make a small amount of difference in the life of his family, in his absense.

Also, I ask personally that you donate a scarf to scarves for soldiers. If you can only garter stitch (knit every round), then that’s fine.

The world has lost a fine young man, who might have grown up to change the world. We will never know due to the ignorance of people.

In Memory Of
Lawrence “Larry” King

This NEVER should have happened.
