Islands in the Sun Shawlter Top
This top was SUPPOSED to be a shawl, but it came out too small. So with a little bit of repurposing, it came out to be a halter top. It makes a wonderful summer coverup, to fit a wide variety of sizes. Directions for smaller size first, larger size in brackets.

To fit bust 30-32, (34-36, 38-40, 40-42, 44-48)
Gauge –
Not important. Seriously.
Materials –
2 (2, 2 , 3, 3) balls Lion Brand Incredible (100% Nylon Ribbon Yarn, 110 yards/ball) or similar.
29” US 13 circular needle. Project is knit back and forth on this needle.
To Make:
C/O 3 stitches.
Knit 2 rows.
Row 3(right side) – K1, , Y/O, K1, , Y/O, K1.
Row 4 (wrong side) – P across.
Row 5 – K2, Y/O, K1, Y/O, K2.
Row 6 – P across.
Row 7 – K3, Y/O, K1, Y/O, K3
Continue pattern as established, until project measures 18 (18, 21, 21, 22, 22) inches long from the beginning, ending on a Right side row.
Next Row: K Across.
B/O all stitches.
Finishing:
Use leftover ribbon yarn, tie one long piece (roughly 1 yard) to each of the wider corners.
Fold the narrow point down approx 1(1, 2, 3, 3 1/2, 4) inch(es), to the inside of the fabric, to create a flat top. Stitch this in place with leftover yarn or sewing thread. Attach two ½ yard pieces to each side of the now flat top. These become the neck ties. Wear with pride & a bikini top underneath.
